Shippensburg University Head Start Program

Nurture early learning and growth with top-notch Pre-K Counts, Head Start, and Head Start programs from Shippensburg University. We have empowered young minds and built strong educational foundations in Pennsylvania since 1971. We provide free, high-quality early education for children aged 0-5 from eligible families in Shippensburg, Carlisle, South Middleton, and Newville. Our comprehensive classroom-based and home-based programs foster creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning among at-risk children, including those in foster care or homeless. The Pre-K Counts program offers high-quality pre-kindergarten for 4 and 5-year-olds, while Head Start serves children aged 3-5 with both in-class and home-based services. For infants and toddlers up to age 3, our Early Head Start program includes a prenatal component for expecting mothers, laying the groundwork for a healthy, successful start. In addition to education, we provide family development services, including health, nutrition, and mental health support to ensure your child and family's overall well-being. Eligibility is based on residency within the Shippensburg, South Middleton, or Carlisle School Districts, with income-based guidelines for our programs.
